 Answers

Can children be part of the team?

Walk and Talk 4 Kids is a family event designed to give families an opportunity to talk and walk, so children are very welcome to attend.

What happens if it’s raining?

Walk and Talk 4 Kids goes on – rain, hail or shine. Dress appropriately! It will still be great fun. There is some shelter at the track, but bring appropriate wet weather gear just in case!

Do we walk the whole time?

You can walk as many or as few laps as you want.

Are vehicles allowed on the track?

All vehicles are prohibited from the track without permission from the committee. Child strollers and wheelchairs are allowed. We suggest contacting the organisers before the event to determine restrictions.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs and other pets are not permitted at the Walk and Talk 4 Kids event. Please do not bring your dog/pet to the venue as they will not be allowed into the venue. Naturally, guide dogs are an exception to this rule.

Will food be available?

Local sporting clubs will have meals and snacks available for sale; however you are welcome to bring your own.

Please remember to bring a water bottle.

Will first aid be available?

Qualified First Aid officers will be in attendance for the entire event.

How does lap counting work?

Lap counting works on an honour system, with participants counting their own laps. It should be noted that this is not a race and the emphasis for this event is on fundraising to for the Resilient Kids Program and to talk with your own families and enjoy the walk!

What happens on the day?

  • Arrive
  • Registration (from 8.30am)
  • Walking, walking, walking
  • Entertainment
  • Food on Sale
  • Around and around you go
  • Finish Walking (12 Noon)

How does sponsorship work?

You can get sponsorship for each lap you complete, eg if someone sponsors you for $2 per lap and you complete 25 laps then you have raised $50 from that person.

Sponsors may also choose to donate a set amount eg $20, no matter how many laps you walk.

Complete the details of all of your sponsors, collect the money, and send a cheque and completed form to:

Wesley Mission Melbourne – walk&talk4kids
