Resilient Kids

Is the Wesley Mission Eastern Region's Children Resource Program.

The statewide Children's Resource Program was established in 2001 to advocate on behalf of children accompanying their parents into Homelessness and Family Violence services.

These programs ensure that children are recognised as clients in their own right, with their own experiences and support needs.

 

 

Resilient Kids aims to:

Advocate on behalf of children who have experienced homelessness and family violence

Support children who have experienced homelessness and family violence

Provide secondary consultations to workers in homelessness and family violence services and other professionals

Provide training around the needs of children

Provide direct services to children through:

·    group programs during school terms

·    camps

·    other activities

 

Cool Kids

Is aimed at primary school aged children.

The program aims to help children identify feelings and develop their social skills.

 

Cool Kids / Rainbows

Is a specially designed program for primary school aged Sudanese children.

The program has been based on the Cool Kids program and the Rainbows Program of Foundation House

 

Adolescent Group

This is an ongoing group aimed at young people 12 and over, to provide an outlet for discussion about their experiences, peer support and socialising.

 

Footsteps

Is a mother child group for women, who have experienced family violence and their children, aged between 0-5 years, aimed at creating a therapeutic environment to explore their mother child relationship.

Resilient Kids has staff available for:

·  agency visits

·  resources on a range of issues
